Very seldom do I turn down anything that is made of wood. For me, it's kinda like as a kid when you would look up at the sky and see dinosaurs, horses, or a boat in the clouds. I tend to see past the obvious and envision something more. When I am offered this cute vintage folding table, I couldn't resist! Would you have guessed it was a table?

It's definitely old, definitely cool, and definitely in need of TLC. I am so impressed with how this is made. Two knobs on the short ends, and this awesome design folding legs underneath. Also, oodles of spiderwebs...yes!
DIY TIME
Let's get this DIY party started! First, I apply a soft white paint with my paint brush to create a base layer on which I can work.

Once that layer cures, I add a textured layer using a frottage technique and a beige paint. It's one that makes a dappled effect and allows your base layer to peek through. You can see how I've used it on a dresser in
this past post HERE.
NEXT STEPS
Next, after that paint cures, I tape off the edges with painter's tape so I can create the faux luggage look I'm after.

After this, I'll be honest, I get lost in the fun. Sometimes I just want to carry on and then realize I may skip steps for you. But, that's okay, right?
THE REVEAL
Last, here is my vintage folding table with a brand new look that I hope brings a smile to your face.

Isn't that the most fun?? Yippee!! I just love it. Finally, my goal to make a luggage style finish has come to fruition. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I find such joy in adding typography to derelict pieces. It creates whimsy and brings a smile each and every time.

Did you notice I removed the knobs on the short sides, but added a luggage handle to the long side. It really gives this piece a realistic look. So tell me...what would you use this table for?
