Unless you've been under a rock for the last 10 years, it's no news that pallets have won the world over for their potential. You can see all my pallet projects
in these posts HERE to see what I mean. As you can imagine I kinda giggled when I saw this upcycled pallet in the thrift store. Since it's not my style, I felt the need to purchase it and relieve it from the outdoorsy look.
It wasn't until I got it home that not only did someone create a shelf just like the one I created, but they also added a rack on the bottom for wine glasses. Being that I'm not one to tip the cup, I felt that rack should come off and serve a new purpose. Plus, those pinecones HAD TO GO.
nuff said.
DIY TIME
Thankfully, the "HOPE" text, the deer decal, and the pinecones all came off easily. I don't even throw them in the trash as they still have use, just not in this fashion.
As for that wine glass rack, I decided to yank that off and reattach it in a new way.
I not only removed the long slotted piece, but also removed the support pieces from that glass holder using my Cat's Paw pry bar. Then, I used my nailer to reattach it to the front facing out with the supports adding to the back.
Now, if you know me, I like to add a bit of whimsy (aka. typography) to my projects. I couldn't resist turning this upcycled pallet creation into something fun for the kitchen. You can see

THE REVEAL
I love it! The dark wood was fantastic as-is, but I really wanted to add that whimsy to the front. Do you love it too?
And...of course I had to make some blue ticking stripe towels to match the farmhousey goodness. tsk.
