While I'm always hanging on to bits and pieces of someone else's junk, I certainly don't turn my head away from solid wood like oak. Take these rockers off the broken cradle I repurposed. There's nothing wrong with them other than they need a new purpose. With that in mind, follow along with me as I create an upcycled child's stool with oodles of whimsy.

However, before I jump into my sweat equity, take a peek at the original cradle I repurposed into
storage HERE and also into a solid oak
ammo box HERE. So, you know I have to make use of these two last bits, right?
WHAT NEXT
First, I decided between many ideas of using them as-is and taking them and making something new. The making something new idea won out. Onto the chopping block (aka. miter saw) we go. I'll be honest, I literally walk out to my workshop and have no idea what I'm going to do with these rockers at first. In order to get my noggin' going, I chop them in half and then turn them around a time or two.

Then, once I have the rockers in half, I go to my
trashure stash and pull out this oak frame leftover from an antique dressing table I repurposed into a
truck chest HERE. That's when the idea hit me...to make a stool. But the child's part doesn't come to me until I see it assembled.

I also cut off those tabs and remove the extra piece to make it perfectly square. Do you see where I'm going with this?

After that, I dig out some old chair spreaders from
my broken chair repurposing HERE to make spreaders for my stool. I use my forstner bit and drill to make spots for spreaders and assemble with glue.

Is it just me or do those legs look like animal legs. Alrighty then! Next, one more trip to my trashure stash leads me to this reclaimed ash I planed down from heat treated pallets to make a
storage chest HERE. I cut it to length on my miter saw, shape it with my jigsaw, and add a sweet face with my Dremel attachment I used on these
wooden salad bowls turned tree HERE.
EWE WILL LOVE THIS
Finally, here's the end result of my adventure using all sorts of trashure. Oh, so fun!

It's cute, it's fuzzy, and functional too! I'm not sure what is my favorite part of it all. Tell me what's yours?

How about that faux-hawk? bwahahaha!! And those ears are the cherry on top.

As usual, as much as I'd like to keep this cutie, I'm offering it to ewe in
my online store (& more!)
