There's always bit of excitement in the air when the second Tuesday of the month rolls around, at least for me and four other bloggers. Welcome to Trash to Treasure Tuesday where my gal friends and I whip up new inspiration for you using found, cast-off, misfit, or just plain ugly items. With that being said, look at this...umm...quirky thrifted planter. Thrifted Canada Goose Planter Before | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's another goose with yet another heart, and... it's totally ready for an all-new purpose. Am I right or what? Canada Goose Thrifted Planter | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Top View Thrifted Planter | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Not only is it nearly new and cute, but also too cute for my taste. What to do? Upcycle it!! In case you're wondering, I have upcycled another LARGER Canada goose back in this post. He's stellar now, just sayin'. Additionally, you can see my other geese makeovers and heart refashions as well. (click/tap each text to see)

GOOSE BE GONE

First order of business is to take off that silly goose head. With one flick of a screwdriver, it's off with his head! Wooden Heart Ornament Before | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces After that, here's what I'm left with. hmmm...it instantly makes me think woodland. Headless Thrifted Planter for Upcycling | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Then, that leads me to dig into my sock stash from my sock doll and animal creations and I come out with this loot. Scrap Sock Doll Parts for Thrifted Planter Fun | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Do you spy a squirrel in there? Also, notice the little wooden acorns I have on hand. I told you I was a nut.

SOCKS RULE

Yes, I'm a sucker for all things handmade, so I begin with my needle and thread to form a body beginning with the neck. Sewing Sock Doll Squirrel for Thrifted Planter Treehouse | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Once sewn, I think stuff a belly and legs in. Additionally, I leave a little space in the bottom to put a little pack of rice in the bottom so my little squirrel can sit upright. No worries, I'll show you him in a second, however.

TREEHOUSE

Okay, back to the thrifted planter inspiration of a treehouse. In order to make my woodsy vision come to life, I want to add a cozy awning for my mouse friend. I grab a bit of trim and cut it into mini awning and attach with my nailer. In addition, take a peek at how this other treehouse had me dabbling in toy creations. Nailing Thrifted Planter Treehouse Awning | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Also, I want to make it cute, so I cut a few felted wool leaves to go on top. Likewise, you can see my other felted toy creations for my upcycled farmer's market or my sweet shop/market/garden as well.
