Have you ever been out
trashure hunting and come across some smalls that you just couldn't leave behind, but had no idea what you're going to do with them? They might have something that speaks to you and your home story. I say "grab 'em!" It's fun to collect an assortment and then add your own style. Let's give these finds a rustic chic home decor makeover.

Take a closer look at what I snagged...(1) an oil lamp with wall mount (2) an antique grater (3) a made in _______ shelf made to look old, but isn't. haha. A quirky lot, right? Let's see which makeover is your favorite...
FIRST PROJECT
To get started, I'll start with the oil lamp. In a past post, I redid a similar one that was pretty rough to begin with. Check out the video below or see the original post
HERE.

So, in like fashion, I'm aiming for something similar. It's time to dive into my stash and I find the perfect scrap. I love when that happens! However, this piece is actually from a shelf I cut up in
our garden shed remodel. It just needs a little dressing up. First, I add a sawtooth hanger on back. Next, I use a light whitewash to give it character.

Then, I tape off a section for a grain sack stripe on the left and also use my grain sack stencil to add even more charm. You can see all the ways I've used this same stencil in
these past posts.

Here is my oil lamp all amped up for farmhouse decor with a rustic chic flair.

To be honest, I hang these lamps inside my home on the wall as-is, but I also like them this way with a bit of art added. It makes it more fun, right?
SECOND PROJECT
Second, let's tackle that antique grater. It's fun just the way it is, but if you want to add a bit of whimsy and charm let's get crafty. tee hee! Also, I found a few free images online and put together a little typography.

After I cut the pieces to fit, I use a spray adhesive to mount them to the grater. Then, I add more bits and pieces to give it a story.

Here's my GRATE-ful grater art that's ready to begin a new life as a sweet kitchen accent.
THIRD PROJECT
Last, but not least, it's time for the shelf-thing. It already has a rustic chic home decor vibe because of the prim design and faux chippy paint. All I add is a this fun antique caster resting in a piece of reclaimed barn oak. Plus, a little more whimsy as well.

It's got that rustic chic home decor vibe AND tells a sweet story. "
The best about memories is making them." In addition, while looking up the history of this piece, I found a legit antique at auction that
sold for over $2K...{{gasp}}

I don't know about you, but time flies by like the speed of light. I watch days go by and try to not focus on the negative, but rather see each one as a blessing. Taking time for those we love is of the utmost importance. Make time...make memories.
