You know good and well I don't like to consider something to be trash unless it is totally worthless. In this case, I'm taking a build I made four years ago and salvaging what I can for new. If you look below, you can see a
DIY centerpiece planter I made for our patio decor. It was time my reclaimed planter be retired and the parts finding new uses. Today, I'm creating a hanging fence planter to grow up.

My planter BEFORE.[/caption]
While it wasn't fun to take apart my centerpiece, I did save what I could like the pulls, the un-rotted wood, including that center small box. However, some is too far gone to salvage or burn because of metal in it. We compost our ash and don't want any toxins in it for our garden. Also, I dig into the wood I salvaged from tearing down my dining room ceiling. And...I have these trellises from purchasing
clematis plants for my flower beds. First, I use my pocket joint jig to assemble the frame.
NEXT STEPS
Next, once I have my frame assembly, I want to add a bit of color fun. In my stash, I have a sample jar of a color I custom-mixed for another past project. And, I have this coral colored spray paint from
my serving cart makeover. The jar was too soft a color, and the can too bright, so I mix them together.

Yes, I'm quirky and do what makes me happy. haha! Best way to be y'all. Then, as soon as my paint cures, I add the planter box and the trellis to finish it off. In addition, I also add a rope hanger to make it suit what I need. Before I show you the reveal, take a peek at my patio after winter, rainy spring, and finally opening up our furniture.

Yep, it needs some TLC. Last summer, my daughters and I refreshed
our pergola.

This year, we're going to making more changes and will share them as we go. It's exciting!!
THE REVEAL
Finally, here's my hanging fence planter hung, filled, and ready to go.

Can you tell I love the coral color? eep! It's such a fun color to accent with and makes my heart happy. If you look close, I filled my planter with petunias and creeping jenny. It will take the summer to fill in, but I'm excited to watch the progress. Do you remember the two frames I made last summer from my shed windows?
See HERE.

What color do you like to accent with? I'm a sucker for any and all flowers for sure. Not only do I enjoy flowers, but I'm running out of garden room! hahaha... At any rate, I have more on the way for our patio and I can't wait to share it with you.

In addition, share my hanging fence planter to inspire others. You can certainly make something like this for your porch, patio, or interior home decor too using reclaimed wood.
