Today, I'm excited to share with you a simple, yet totally festive refashion for a farmhouse patriotic decor using bandanas repurposed into 4th of July (Independence Day) decor. Bonus, you can do this for any season or any holiday, just change up the colors as needed. Reduce, Reuse, REFASHION series hosted by Larissa of Prodigal Pieces | Come learn to create for you and your home | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces For my purposes today, I've chosen to go patriotic in my color choices for obvious reason with the upcoming holiday approaching. I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for cute, affordable ways to decorate...and quickly. tee hee. In addition, you can see how I refashioned bandanas into bags and skirts in the video below. Upcycled Bandana Drawstring Bag Video Tutorial by Larissa of Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces I bought two sets of 3 to refashion for today's purpose. I couldn't dare think of using my classic vintage bandanas I have in my stash because of what I have planned. eep!

DIY TIME

First, my goal is to create a farmhouse style vignette with a rustic vibe. So, in order to that, I want to age these bandanas to give a faded feel. Initially, I wanted to fade them using an oxygen cleaner and also the sun. My littlest is eager to help. We soak them for about an hour or so, then hang them up in the sun to dry. So, next, I decided to soak them in a whitewash of thinned paint. Will this work? I figure it won't hurt to try. Last, but not least, I wrap them around canning jars to use in a festive centerpiece. Wrapping Bandana Around Canning Jar | prodigalpieces.com
