We're back on the
trashure train after my haul last week. Did you see it? If not,
head HERE to see the full loot. Normally, I have my
Reduce, Reuse, REFASHION time for the last Tuesday of the month. However, I kinda want to continue this party before too much time passes. The next part of my DIY adventure is the metal lot I nabbed including these three pieces. How about a metal makeover with a farmhouse milk can leading the helm?
What I also grab is an old, rusty paint can with a random key hanging on wire (not shown) and a vintage zinc lid. If you didn't know, I don't pass up rusty metal often. Here's some ideas of why:

BEGIN AT THE BEGINNING
First, let's start with the milk can. It's a made in _ _ _ _ _ piece originally, it's now going to be a made-over-by-me model. I begin by removing the rest of the floral decal to see what I'm up against.

Here's what's under that decal - a fun blue paint with natural distressing. Looks good to me!
Meanwhile. there's still the top with a faux crackle finish. To make that suit what my end goal is, I paint it with a custom-mix creamy white color I have on hand.
But notice I am leaving the blue beneath. With that in mind, I do still want to add a bit more farmhouse to it with a DIY decal of my own. First, I print it out and then tear around it to make it rustic.
Then, using an adhesive spray, I add the decal. Next, once cured, I use a brown wax to age it and give it a new story.
MILKING THE FREE STUFF
While I focused on the farmhouse milk can, I don't want you to think I forgot about the paint can or zinc lid. Here they are all "aged" and ready for many more years.
At first, many would have passed these up, but a junker like me has fun with the potential alone. The paint can just needs a vintage label I found online doing a basic search - just make sure they're free for use!
Thankfully, I was able to quickly size the label to this can and even keep the key I found with it. However, for the zinc lid, I just grab an antique Ball canning jar (in blue, of course) to complete the set.
Last, but not least, this milk can revival. I didn't do much to it, but just TLC and creative fun gave me a new piece to work with. Even with party on the back. tee hee.
Now doesn't this make you want to dig in your neighbor's trash? {{bwahahaha}} Maybe I need to start a club where we go pickin' at Curb le Chic and share each other's find.
