Y'all ready for some fun? I sure hope you enjoy stopping by my part of the online world to giggle, to be inspired, and most of all have fun. In the past I've repeatedly said how I never skip over the wood section of the thrift store. Potential awaits! Just like this primitive bin I found. Today, it's going to become farmhouse cobbler bin. tee hee. Primitive Bin Before Makeover by Larissa of Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com The key factor I look for in a project is that it is solid wood. Plywood ain't my jam because it's hard to rework. This bin is made of solid pine boards, so I tuck it in my cart. Prim Bin Top View | prodigalpieces.com I'm assuming by the Noah's Ark wallpaper it was either for a kid or a gal who loves prim. Plenty of storage inside and even has a couple of handles on the side for a rustic feel.

DIY TIME

First, I peel off the wallpaper border and see what I'm dealing with. Then, my sander comes out to play. I'm not aiming to remove all the paint, but rather give it a time-worn feel. Sanding Wooden Bin with DeWalt Sander | prodigalpieces.com While I'm out in my workshop, I found enough lumber to make a plank lid for the bin. Not only did I feel a lid would give it a bit more function, but also keep the dust from getting inside. Here it is in rough layout... Slat Wood Bin Top DIY | prodigalpieces.com

MORE FUN

Next, once the prep work is complete, I added a washed layer of milk paint. And, true to myself, I had to add some typography. ahem. Painting Farmhouse Cobbler Bin by Hand | prodigalpieces.com It is such fun for me to design graphics for my work. Also, the artistic therapy I get from taking the time to hand paint it all in is quiet time. I use that time to pray, praise, and reflect. Do you have time like that? If you'd like to try your hand at doing a similar thing, you can see my transfer tutorial HERE or see how I work it out in my video below. I'm always enchanted by your creativity! The frosting on the cake was the polka video....I LOVED hearing Italian again! I heard it every day growing up in a 3 generational household....and I miss it every day....

I would love to do this graphic on an old storage chest I have. I would love it if you would share a copy of your graphic or is there someplace I can purchase it?

Thank you for the compliment, Sandra. I don't have my files set up to be shared or have the copyright stuff in line.
