I know I'm not alone when I say, "don't blink!" when it comes to raising kids. They literally grow up right before your eyes and you'll be wondering where did the time go. Of course, I've savored the time being a mom to my 6 wonderful kids. Additionally, I'm also thankful to have not only my adult children, but still have my teens and little in tow, but even she's not so little anymore. That leads me to show you today's project piece. I'm taking our beloved seat to new heights with a DIY painted highchair makeover. Solid Wood Highchair Before DIY Painted Highchair Makeover Tutorial | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces It's not only a very basic style chair, but it is built sturdy. AND my favorite aspect...it allows your baby to sit right at the dining table. You see, when my babies were nursing, they sat on my lap totally involved in the family meal at every meal. This chair goes right up to the table, so it was a perfect fit for me and my babes.

MAKEOVER TIME

If you're beginning your brood or looking to create a sweet spot for your grandchild, finding chairs at garage sales and thrift stores is a great way to not only shop smart, but make them your own. In addition, you can see one I did a few years ago that was a totally fun project and a hit HERE. So, let's get started, shall we? While I know not every chair can be disassembled, this one can be and I'm going to make the most of it. First, I take out all the screws so I can have the pieces easily available to work on. Taking apart and drilling highchair | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Then, I take my sander with 150 grit sandpaper and take down that punkin' orange finish and the wear and tear. Finally, I head out to give a few coats of paint to the highchair frame (notice the furball sidekick?). This time, I'm using this Smokey Beige, letting cure in between. What is more, you can see that same color I used on these candlesticks HERE. Smokey Beige Spray Paint for DIY Painted Highchair | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Meanwhile. I use a satin white for the chair back, seat, and front rail to add a slight contrast while keeping it neutral. You can't beat spraying paint on chairs, right?

SERVING UP IN STYLE

Finally, my DIY painted highchair is ready for many more years of giggles, spills, fun family memories, and oodles of stories for the future. I still can't believe we're done with baby stuff in many ways. Yes! I have so much work to do around here to catch up and I was already behind. sigh...

Glad you all are recovering from the icky bug. Families do tend to share... :( I really like this makeover. Such a nice style of high chair, and being solid wood is the best. The new colors are lovely ! Someone will score to get this. Thanks for sharing !! p

Thank you for the well-wishes. Here's to good health!! Also, thank you for the compliment. So many get caught up in "new" items or trendy items for babies, but there's no need for sure.

So sorry that you were all ill, Larissa. Many blessings to you and your family. May I offer a loving suggestion? When there is any interference with my normal stomach condition, I am quick to take activated charcoal capsules. I just follow the instructions on the bottle. Charcoal is a great collector of stomach viruses and other interlopers. Even if there is vomiting, I take a sip of water with another capsule and keep it up until the stomach is settled. Works wonders! God bless!

Thank you! Yes, I have activated charcoal on hand at all times. This virus was unlike any I've ever experienced. So weird!
