When you're out taking your daily walk with you dog during spring clean-up, what do you do? Do you (1) bring a wagon? (2) make a mental map of trashure loot? (3) keep on walking because saving good from the landfill ain't your thang. Honestly, I used to drive around more and peruse while shopping Curb le Chic in my neighborhood. However, I have had different plans the last few years. Though, when I saw this curbside side table I made a mental note. Curbside Table in Spring Clean-Up | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces Why? Well, as I walk, I am passed by dozens of trucks driving around and around picking loot. The way I figure it, is if it's still there by the next day, I'll bring it home. Much like this Heywood Wakefield table I just revived. I nearly forgot about it, but early the next morning I was flying around starting my day and I decide to run and see if it's still there. And... there she be. What's crazy is that within an hour, I took Loula on another walk and the trash had been picked up. eep! It nearly went with it! RESCUE & REVIVAL

First, while the table is in decent shape, here's what I find. It's not solid wood, but mixed with particle board, the top is a veneer, and there is some superficial damage. As you can imagine, it's pretty dirty too. To start I clean it all up and add wood glue and wood filler to let cure overnight. You may be wondering why this primer? Well, it adheres wonderfully, hides stains and blocks all odors. Priming Curbside Side Table Top | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces

PAINT

Next, it's time to change up the entire look of this curbside side table. The primer cures in about five minutes, however, I tackle the base first with this milk paint in agate. This is the same milk paint I use on several projects including this antique store sign tutorial. While that cures, I give two coats of a neutral nutmeg color to the top. After that, it's time for the finishing touch. I dig into my salvaged knob stash and pull out this decorative one to replace the simple one while keeping the backplate. Instead of keeping that aged brassy finish, I decide to paint them an aged rust instead. Salvaged Side Table Knob Choices | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces

CURBSIDE NO MORE

Last, here is my little side table find in a new "old" look and ready for many more years of life. It really matches the throw blanket on the chair! Nice save Larissa, I’m excited for warmer weather as well. Hoping to get some projects done before summer gets here.

Love it! Recently (for the past year!) I've been too busy babysitting my grandbaby to do any painting, so I enjoy it vicariously through your posts! Thank you so much.
