Am I the only one that actually pays good hard cash for something broken? ahem. (please say yes!) When I spied this stool, I enjoyed that it was made in the likeness of a vintage stool with the threaded center. However, on closer inspection, the top fell off and the threaded post was worn out.
In my mind, it was an easy fix and this little stool still had much life left. Even in its broken state, my littlest kiddo used it to sit by me while I would work. Let me tell ya that having a sidekick is the best thing in the world!
Since then, I've swapped out my stool seating to my other vintage industrial style one on casters. It makes our schooling a bit easier to be able to wheel it out.
Finally, it's time to set about repairing and updating this one into a cottage style stool. First, I cut off the damaged threads on my table saw, and then reattach it with wood glue and screws. Simple enough, right?
TIME FOR A NEW LOOK
Then, once everything was cleaned and repaired, I decided to use this Robin's Egg Blue spray paint and small spray shelter to liven it up.
While I waited for the two coats to cure, I set about to use up another stash of goodies that I found at the same thrift store. Let there be no question in your mind that I will grab all wool and alpaca yarn as I see fit. tsk. I got over 10 skeins for a few bucks!!
My end vision for my cottage style stool was to have that robin's egg blue peeking out a cute mandala style stool cover. Thankfully, I found this beautiful pattern for my exact size stool HERE. Next, I chose a wool yarn in this pretty fuscia to make the cover. I can't help but giggle when I see my stitch markers I made for myself a few years back.
It was easy to whip up, though I found a few flaws in the pattern that I adapted to suit my needs. Who knows, I may even have to make some for my own bar stools too. eep!
REVEAL TIME
Are you ready to see the new fun for this stool? I am!
How's that for some color fun? Not only is the stool refreshed, but also has a cute comfort vibe too. I'm tickled with the outcome of both the stool and cover.
Meanwhile, even Teddy was in on the action. He is such a hoot of an old man...er...I mean dog. He just thinks he's a man.
