In my last post, I began a fun adventure to show you what I would do with this curbside haul. My journey began with the
antique pie crust table and today I'm tackling that 80's hunting scene shelf. My goal is to show you how to take something that may not fit your decor and make it new. Join me as I transform that shelf into cottage style home decor.

Now, let me just say that I love dogs and animals, but this blast from the past with wallpaper border as art just isn't my thing. I had some of you ask to save it for you, but that wasn't possible to get out without tearing it up.
DIY FUN
Onward we go! Since I removed that artwork, I needed to replace the back. However, before I did that I wanted to brighten up the entire project. First, I filled in all the holes with wood filler and then sanded with my sander. Then, I used the Flat White on the shelf itself. Meanwhile, I cut a piece of beadboard and painted it with the Vintage Teal.

Before I attached the beadboard backing, I gave it a whitewash of paint using my paint brush.

Then, while the paint was still wet, I use my Faux Wood Graining Tool to create the wood effect.

You can see how I did it on this
Winne the Pooh play table in this post or in the video below.

Last, time to assemble the shelf. Assembly is easy with my nailer. Just tack it on and we're done.
ALL DONE
From woodsy 1980's to cottage style home decor...yay!

The new color is a much needed refresh. Adding the bead board gave it texture, but my favorite is the faux wood. That really makes it pop, don't you think?

My second trashure makeover is done and
now available in my shop along with other goodies for you.

Do pin and share this example of how to create your own cottage style home decor. There are many looking for inspiration on how to makeover their dated decor too.

Up next, my trashure curbside haul makeovers will continue with the chest of drawers my husband thought I should have left there. tsk. I'll show him. tee hee.
