Ladies and gents, you know I can't pass up potential projects, especially when they look like this. A hot mess? Maybe so. Don't let the obvious webs, dirt, missing mirror, and grime distract you. This ol' gem is perfect for a brand-new look. Let's have fun with this upcycled mirror frame into wall decor. Antique Dresser Mirror Before Makeover by Larissa of Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com A gal asked me if I wanted this by sending a picture to me. I will be honest that I didn't realize how big it was. No worries! That just made my challenge all the more fun.

DIY TIME

First, I wanted to make use of the mirror frame as it is. That meant either creating typography art (which I love), or some other sort of use for that large span of space. Thankfully, my stash comes to the rescue again as I have a small collection of mini shelves. Mini Shelves Before for Upcycled Mirror Frame | prodigalpieces.com It pays to have a stash...just sayin'. haha. These will fill up the space and add more function that just art too. NEXT STEPS

Last, but not least, I want to add a vintage vibe to the mirror backing. No special chalkboard paint needed. All I need is a flat black paint. Two coats of paint, then primed by rubbing chalk all over the surface. Painting Upcycled Mirror Frame Blackboard by Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com Also, I need to hang the mini shelves. I measure and mark and then I'm good to go.

THE REVEAL

Finally, here is my upcycled mirror frame turned wall decor. It's funky, fun, and oh so useful too. Likewise, it's no surprise I'm a sucker for them. They're so unique and tell a lovely story. Such a clever way to display your collection! Love this! I have so many projects that are on my list I don't even know where to start! I just received a hand me down buffet that I'm thinking of removing the stain and applying a light white wash or maybe I should start with something smaller like painting my end table. New brushes would come in handy either one I choose to tackle first! Thank you for the opportunity to win this giveaway!

I am not surprised that you were surprised at how big that mirror frame is! lol It is huge! You made it absolutely adorable with the shelves, apothecary bottles and art work. :) What would I paint with (more) Zibra brushes? I have a little collection of currently unattractive candlesticks I need to makeover, along with a spice rack (that will be for nail polish) and a couple trays. Those are items I am redoing to donate to my kid's school auctions and 2 pro-life organizations we support, than then there is my daughter's dresser..... more supplies are always welcome! :)

Such a clever way to use the old mirror frame. I would never have even thought about putting little shelves inside. I do have some projects to paint a couple of small cabinets in my kitchen as soon as it warms up just a bit more so that I can do the sanding outside. And, then on my my kitchen chairs that are showing a lot of natural distressing. They were painted in 1987. I know I will put the Zibra brushes to good use.
