Are you ready for some trashy goodness? Don't worry, this is a kid-friendly post. I'm talking about trashure - one lady's trash is a little boy's treasure. tee hee. Today is
Trash to Treasure Tuesday where my blogger friends and I show you how we take unwanteds and turn them into new treasures. You'll see their projects at the end of this post. Scroll down to see a clock face table makeover.

If you follow me on social media, you would have seen that a few months back my older kids had been working on
their own furniture projects and my youngest boy was aching to find a project of his own. His Grandpa had brought over a couple of wooden shelves for him and his older sister to work on, but his broke.
He was so bummed and kept asking me when we could find him something to work on. Then, it happened...we were headed in for the evening and he ran up to me excitedly proclaiming that a lady a couple of houses down had just thrown away a chair, or something like it, and it could be his. You can imagine he piqued my interest, so I told him we would check first thing in the morning since it was dark outside.
ADVENTURE
Do you think he slept in. No siree. He was out of bed lickety-split and we headed down to take a look. Undeniably, I must tell you that he has his mother's genes. Look at this little gem he found. (notice the angelic light shining! I did not add it - btw.)

A little shabby, yes, but full of potential! Can you see how proud he was? My heart melted. Sadly though, we were completing our patio makeover, and I had several custom orders to take care of before I could work with him on his table. I promised him as soon as I was done, his would come first. Now was the time. Yay!
DIY TIME
First, we removed those tiny finials and trim (he has oodles of ideas of how we can repurpose them), and then repaired the base to be strong again. Here's what the top looked like after that...

The top looked like a clock face to us, so a clock face table it will be. We sanded it down together for the most part, but I let him have at it for a while. How cute!

Why do they have to grow up so fast? sigh...
After sanding, it is time to cut some dowel to fit those holes.

Easy so far and looking better already. Then, we stained the top using one of my favorite stains, Sunbleached stain by Rust-Oleum, that we used on
our bedroom floor and on this
coffee table.
Next, I wanted to help create texture on the table as well, so just like I did in my
shipping crate table tutorial, we did a glazing. See the difference between plain stain and glazing?

If you want to know how I make my glazing, you can read about it
HERE.
Once the glazing was dry, we used the DecoArt Old World Numbers stencil and a dark gray paint.

He helped me stencil and than manned the hairdryer to make the work go faster. He loved this part.
PAINT TIME
Painting the base is left to him. I watched and gave tips, but he did the work.

To finish it off, we distressed, and he kept repeating to me, "Mama, this is crazy. We're taking the paint off we just put on. We're going to have to paint it again!) ahahaha....I love it. ♥ Last, he used my wax to give it a nice, protected finish. Ready for his reveal?

Ta Da! Hard to believe it is the same table, isn't it? Now it's a clock face table. Bravo little dude!

I love the vintage feel it has, and he loves counting the numbers over and over. I think he did an awesome job, and you can bet I'm one proud mama to be able to offer it in
my online shop. UPDATE: This has sold to a client in another state, so he not only learned some geography, but also increased his savings. He is so tickled!

We both would love it if you pinned and shared his clock face table so others can think outside the trash too. Happy trashure hunting!
In addition, pin and share our upcycling fun to inspire others too.

Also, if you want to see his next project, we had a blast working on this little plant stand together. Come see the after
