There's nothing more fun that finding new purpose for what other's consider junk. Why? Because it's a challenge and a great brain activity to get creative juices flowing. On a recent junkin' trip, I found this broken metal yard art hiding in the recesses. Today, it's going to become some fun salvaged garden art that you can use as inside or outside decor. Broken Garden Art Before Upcycle by Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com prodigalpieces As you can see, it's leaning because of the missing pin on one side has broken off. Plus, there are bells missing and other parts where the tack welding has come apart. However, check out that rustified, perfect patina. eep!

DIY TIME

Of course, this is the prime time to dig into my stash of goodies to see what I can find to help me make my vision come to life. First, I find these bits of chippy painted wood that are left over from the trash bin I demolished from the side of my house. (Which was replaced by this my DIY cedar shed) Blue Chippy Wood for Salvaged Garden Art | prodigalpieces.com I took most of the salvageable wood to build my patio coffee table, but this bit remains. The color and patina of the wood compliment the patina of the garden art. Being that this metal was in a garden, I'm envisioning to create some blooms out of the wood. I begin by cutting out a stencil out of my paperboard recycling. Then, I use my jigsaw to cut petals out of the wood. Last, I pull out some scrap wood to make a template to attach my petals to. After using a bit of glue and zip ties my design work is complete.

Thanks! You gotta try your hand at creating something. So fun and best kind of therapy. The color is called Superstition. We just painted it and I love it. We used the same on our shed remodel too.
