Sniff... aaah....do you smell it?  It's gardening time!  Spring is in the air and it's time to get movin' in the garden. Got your garden groove on? We are definitely behind schedule due to our little girl showing up 6 weeks earlier than planned, but it's never to late to start! While my gang is busy getting things ready, I'm inside taking care of preemie baby. I cringe sometimes because I ache to be out there, but at this point it's a bit too chilly for baby and I am still recovering myself.

Yes, even our sweet dog, Teddy, is relishing in the spring goodness. But he's not much help.

Our beds took a beating with the winter we had last year. However, here's a snippet of what our garden looks like in the peak season.  You can read about it HERE.

Vertical planting is the way to go, and we love Eliot Coleman's methods!

Now all we need to do is amend it with our compost, some manure, and then bring on the seed! So, you might be wondering about the location of our garden. Yes, it's in the front yard of our .25-acre city lot because even though our back yard is by far bigger it is highly shaded.

NEIGHBORS

We actually find that the neighbors make special trips just to walk down our street just to pass by our yard. When we were putting the beds in some thought we were carving out the local university's letters... um... no. I decided to tell nosy people we were creating a family plot. Ha! It creates fun times of interaction for sure! At any rate, who can pass up enjoying all this garden bounty that you've labored over, is completely free of chemicals, and is organic in all aspects? You just continue to take it easy while you can sweetheart! in no time at all you will be hard at work....I'd love to be able to get outside to weed my flower beds but we have been getting rain for days...so I am trying to keep busy inside.

You've definitely got a green thumb. Your garden from last year looks amazing! We're trying to grow veggies and it seems to be going better this year...so far. The plants are looking good. We also decided to build more raised beds in our backyard for more gardening space. We started working on it yesterday. I hope we can end up with a garden at least half as bountiful and lush as yours. Happy gardening! :-)
