Spring is in the air and is just around the corner. eep! For me, that makes me think garden and garden decor , curb appeal, and CITY CLEAN-UP!! Seriously, what a great time of year and there is trashure all around. Last year, however, I was a good girl and stayed home, that is until my neighbor told me about a "desk" around the corner that I gave some French oh, la la. And then there are things like these cute picket fences. Curbside Garden Picket Fence found Curbside by Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com They're perfect for the Trash to Treasure Tuesday my blogger friends and I host every second Tuesday of the month, so be sure to check out their projects at the end of the post. Trash to Treasure Tuedays - Thrifted Makeover Fun | Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com Today's story goes like this...I am headed home from church and trying to keep my eyes on the road while there were mounds of trashure just calling my name. Then I saw a Mid-Century dinette set a lady was in the process of setting out and she had these little pickets. I took the pickets and dinette set. Yes, I'll admit it's taken me nearly a year to get back to them. We've been busy, ya know! I used one on my Christmas mantel and loved the texture it added, but I had several and couldn't use them all, so time to repurpose them, right?
SCORE
My vision saw a section of these pickets turned into garden decor with that chippy paint and  charm. What sealed the deal for me was when I found these little sets of garden tools at Goodwill for a buck each - mind you I always use my coupon for an extra 20% off. SCORE!

The tools were too "new" looking for my taste, so I used my cold galvanizing compound that I used in my tutorial for zinc patina, and metal primer to rusticify (yes, that's my word) and little bit. Rustoleum Professional Primer and Cold Galvanizing Compound | Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com While those were drying, I printed off these sweet vintage seed packs and added some dimension with a bit of ink on the edges, just like my DIY faux cotton stems. Adding Aged Texture to Vintage Seed Packs by Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com Of course I had to dig into my barn wood to grab a piece suitable for my new garden decor. I used my compound miter saw to cut it to length and create a directional sigh. Then I hand-painted a little whimsy to go on it. Hand-painting Garden Decor | Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com

THE REVEAL

Once all was dry, it was time to assemble. This is what I came up with... Repurposed Garden Decor from Curbside Picket Fence by Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com I love the whimsy it has and the time-worn appeal - right down to those little tools. Garden Decor from Curbside Picket Fence by Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com The piece of barn wood turned directional makes for a fun conversation piece. Wouldn't this look sweet on a garden shed, or hung in your home for a spring touch?
