I have to admit that I promised my hubby, my family, AND myself that no more furniture was to enter into my possession until I cleaned out my workshop. BUT.... (there's always a but, right?) pieces just have a way of finding me and beckon me to purchase them. Is it my fault they're feeling unloved?  tsk. Enter in this vintage dressing table...

With a mirror of 42" diameter, solid wood construction (it was heavy!), and a fab flair, this gorgeous piece wanted a new home. (This one is much like my painted ladyzinc vanity, and industrial vanity)

THE REVEAL

My client lives in the southern part of the U.S. and wanted a showcase vintage dressing table for her room. She said red and we did RED!

My oldest daughter and I had fun staging this one!

Confession time: I am typically not your average electronic device user and put off owning a cell phone f.o.r.e.v.e.r. BUT... (there's that but again!) I had to invest in one for my business sake and it has really made things easier. For instance, I went to purchase the fabric she requested and it wasn't in stock. Then, I took a picture of another very similar fabric and sent her the picture. However, it was either that fabric or wait 2 weeks to get the table.  She responded in minutes and said, "go ahead!". Whew.  Normally, I would have driven a half hour home, corresponded in email, and then headed back to the store. Aaah...so much better.

FABRIC

In addition, I love the fabric I found because it adds that added punch of contrast to the vintage dressing table, don't you think?!

Fantastic! And I really love the bench that goes with the unfinished piece in your shop...is that original to the set?
Nice work!

I just purchased a piece like this today, exact same styling but a little different setup. No name anywhere on the piece so I am wondering who is the maker/manufacturer of the piece you did. If you could find out and let me know I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks- Paige

Hi Paige! Sounds like you scored a good one. Unfortunately, it is typical to not find any markings on Mid Century pieces, and the same was true for me with this one. I have no idea who the manufacturer was - sorry! I also have two other vanities in my collection that are unmarked. I wonder what they were thinking? :/ Let me know if you find out! :D

Good Morning! I love all of your work - the amazing creativity just makes me want to give up my day job and go Prodigal! Im from South Africa - and your paints and products are strange to me. What do I look at when I try and match yours with ours? Kind Regards Nuri

Hello! Thank you for stopping by, Nuri. I don't know the extent of your resources, but sometimes you can go to a paint store and they can look up a color and color match it. Not sure what else to tell you other than matching it yourself. Sorry! :)

Stunning, absolutely stunning! Just watched the DVD of 'Unsinkable Molly Brown' with g-daughter Emily. The living room in their Denver mansion was completely red!

I have several pieces to paint myself, I have redone a few pieces small pieces for my own home one was a 4 poster twin bed in red chalk paint with black wax, and getting ready to do a small dresser to match. The red is a very fun color. I am thinking about painting and selling some pieces and was wondering how to go about pricing pieces such as vanity’s, also 3 piece antique bedroom sets and 4 and 6 piece table and chairs. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Best thing to do is look at local markets online and physical shops to compare. Figure in your hours/materials spent, what the item would be worth redone, and go from there. Hope that helps!
