Flea market and garage sale season is in full swing (I call it fleatiquing) and I have to make myself stay home so I won't overfill my house. Are you that way? I mean, who can pass up a good deal, especially when it's a matter of pennies?
You can't go wrong I tell ya, but sometimes a deal can be made better by giving it a quick update with a coat of paint. Some of the things we find may have been glorious at one point, but now they need to be brought up to date.
Enter in this vintage magazine rack and patio table...
...both in structurally good condition, and only in need of a cleaning and makeover. Let the fun begin!!
Here are the colors I've chosen for my projects, Sage Green and Seaside in a gloss finish.
The Sage Green I had left over from giving this sweet vanity chair a custom look for a client. Much better, don't you agree?
I wanted to use that same green on the patio table my mother recently gave me to help me in
our patio makeover.
DIY TIME
This little table had a bit of rust, but after a good cleaning and a wire brush, I was able to see improvement after one coat of paint. Final reveal on this table will be shown in my patio reveal.
For the magazine rack, it was all about that Seaside color I fell in love with in my
Rustic Chic Makeover. Isn't it pretty even after one coat?? ♥
Seriously, what could be easier than spraying on a coat of paint to give a tired piece a new lease on life? It takes only a few minutes to spray and about an hour for each coat to cure.
I love how the vibrancy of this color adds that special pop to my flea market decor.
Makes you want to go out and find something to spray paint, doesn't it? tee hee hee.
Notice that tufted green cushion came off that vanity stool I showed you earlier? Nothing goes to waste around here!
WRAP-UP
You can't go wrong with flea market finds. If you like the eclectic vintage style, it gives you ample opportunity to change-up your decor for a few bucks.
