What have you been up to these days? Spring cleaning, perhaps? Vacation planning? Or maybe you've been in the just-make-it-thru-the day mode?
We had a glorious 70 degree day a couple of days ago and I was anxiously working through my stash (rather my heap in my garage!) and enjoying every bit of sunshine until this little bit did a bad thing...
...while working on one of my projects. I had set this booger down about 18" off the ground and in a split second it was bit-side down 3/4" into the top of my foot. Yes, it HURT!!!
What are the chances of the lightest side coming down first AND it completely missing my shoe? Of course, instead of basking in the sun and working on projects, I had to park it indoors. BUMMER.
The next day was about 15 degrees and 6-10 inches of snow. I love the northeast. ahem.
Aside from all of that, I am in the nesting stage of pregnancy which I'm just referring to as "spring cleaning", so I have an excuse to grab anything that is causing clutter and give it the boot! (My family is all hiding their stuff so it won't get nabbed!)
I've continued in the remaking of the Morris Rocker parts (
see more of the upcycle/repurpose here) and this is my latest repurposed sign creation from this...
...a cast-off Very Bradley sign, from a local furniture store where I get my shipping supplies, and a rocker, to this...
...a hand-painted "Antiques" sign. Didn't they just look like they belonged together? I have one rocker left, but it's been broken, so we'll see what becomes of it.
Here are some other goodies coming out of
my shop:
An antique railroad container that used to carry men's rubber boots. Added hairpin legs and a top... VOILA! A table with truly unique character. Don't you love it?
Been busy with the beeswax again, making these pillar candles to go in these lovely rustic candle holders.
I don't know about you, but there is nothing like the sweet, natural fragrance of beeswax and the fulfillment of knowing I'm not polluting my home with paraffins and nasty chemicals as the store-bought kind of candles do.
There are several new items items in shop, like these wonderful vintage pie carriers and...
...you could own your very own pallet clock like the one I created
here!
We've also had more birthday festivities around here and I can't let them go by without gifting a handmade goodie.
Here's a handmade sling shot with holster and felt ball ammo - perfect for the littles! I just used some webbing & D-rings for the holster, and whip stitched a felted wool sweater sleeve to hold the ammo.
And for the older crowd, how about a nook/kindle case & cover from a vintage book with a pocket for storage on one side and an elasticized side for use.
From totally unloved set of books...
...to perfectly useful nooks!! (had to make it rhyme - tee hee)
Needless to say (as my friends tell me) the moss never had time to grow under my feet! Life is too short to spend is whittling away on a pointless activity (like T.V., etc.). It's too much fun to create and be active!
What have you been up to? I'd love to hear!!
